SILVER Acheron A River of Pain The SILVER Series Book 1 eBook Keira Michelle Telford
This book was listed under lesbian fiction, not sure why, because although the main character has a sexual relationship with another woman that is briefly mentioned, it is secondary to her feeling for, and relationship with a man. Have read part 1 of the next book and the first half of part 2, and it doesn't seem as though that is going to change. That said, I did enjoy this book, it is very descriptive and you feel like you are in the characters world with them. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast paced action packed read, but I'm not sure I will stick with the series, because I prefer fiction that when relationships are portrayed, are not heterosexual in nature.Product details

SILVER Acheron A River of Pain The SILVER Series Book 1 eBook Keira Michelle Telford Reviews
Oh My Goodness! In a fun book like a YA, but far more adult in feel and tone, Telford has delivered a story that is darker than I normally read, but oh so much fun!
The world building was tremendous, with a protagonist, Silver, who is hard as nails but still manages to let enough of her guard slip so you see the soft cuddly bunny (ok - not really, but some vulnerability) inside. With graphic and often disturbing imagery, the author has painted a viable and quite realistic sense of those left behind, bruised, broken and often making controversial decisions in order to survive and move forward.
With a tremendous set up to establish the world and the characters that inhabit it, all done without overwhelming the reader with useless information but highly descriptive and emotional combinations that allow the reader to `feel' the desperation and even the fear, it was an edge of the seat read for many pages. Even the romance is beautifully nuanced and established, without falling into the trap so many love triangles create.
This is a must read for all dystopian fans, tired of the softer-sells of the books geared to the YA market. Telford has managed to make an incredibly complex plot, loaded it with characters that develop and change before your eyes, and doesn't lose readers in the mix. I really enjoyed the book and the author's style - and I am not a fan of the darker and more graphically violent reads.
It should be noted that this is NOT a book for teens, it is darker, more violent and laced with adult content perfectly fun read for those adult readers who have exhausted their patience with the YA market.
I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review on the Full Moon Bites tour. I was not compensated for this review all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Easy to read, a fun read, Silver is a fun and lively women. If you are looking for a fast read give it try. Loved Silver.
Just read it LOL. It's awesome! Gruesome, bloody, raunchy, action, what more can you ask for? Nothing! ) 10/10. Yea!
I like the premise of this book, and for 99 cents you can't really go wrong. I felt pretty lost most of the time, and that totally could have been reader error, but it felt really disjointed to me. But if you like dystopian, violent, kind-of-gross-but-in-a-cool-way books, it's not a bad find. I don't know yet if I'll continue reading the series, because I found I wasn't curious at all about what happens to Silver.
The first thing you'll find different when you begin reading this post-apocolyptic novella (serial pilot) is the third person present tense narration mode. It is done well though, so it may be a few pages-or chapters-before you tilt your head sideways and realize that things are just a little different here. Kudos to the author for not simply following the herd. I think it workds very well with the writing voice and story type that makes up the rather graphic storyline. As for the storyline, it is not overly creative; taking a piece of the post apocolyptic franchise and tweaking it a bit. This is not a negative. It's a selling concept right now, who wouldn't try to get in on the action if they could.
I found the character development to be pretty good; a little choppy, but nothing to detract from reading the book, just not refined. The world-building is also pretty good, in that it creates a distinction between the two areas of habitation. More details about the "civilized" zone would have drawn a better contrast between it and the more heavily described "Fringe" zone. I found the dialogue to flow very well, helping to build upon the character development. The back-and-forth can be both serious and humorous-that shows promise for the author.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the book. The author clearly knows how to write a book, and has good writing skills. This is a very good introduction piece; and, I feel confident that every title subsequent to this one will each be a little better-confident enough that I will be reading the the second installment.
